| Projektbeschreibung: | Für die fünfbändige, internationale „Encyclopedia of Disability“, die 2006 bei Sage Publications erschien, wurde die „Geschichte der Behinderung“ in Quellen und Dokumenten rekonstruiert. Schwerpunkt der Bearbeitung war der deutschsprachige Raum; zusätzlich wurde die Politik der Europäischen Union berücksichtigt. Als historische Phasen standen das Mittelalter sowie die Moderne (19. bis 21. Jahrhundert) im Mittelpunkt. Sammlungsgebiete waren die Hofnarren, die Heil- und Sonderpädagogik, die nationalsozialistische Rassenhygiene, die Sozialgesetzgebung und die deutsche Behindertenbewegung. Außerdem wurden Biographien aus Philosophie, Kunst, Ökonomie und Politik einbezogen. Insgesamt wurden für das interdisziplinäre und englischsprachige Lexikon fast 60 Quellen erschlossen und 25 Stichworte editorisch betreut.
